100 Things About Me

  1. I am a born-again Christian, and I am in awe of Jesus.
  2. I think my husband is the most awesome man in the entire world. I am in awe of him too. He is totally brilliant.
  3. I am the mommy of an 8 year old TaeKwonDo black belt. So don’t try mugging me. 
  4. We spend about 80% of our homeschool time reading. We have a Classical, literature based method. 
  5. I met my bestest friends online.
  6. We have cah-razy squirrels in our backyard. They truly are the oddest creatures in the world. My son named them Jack and Tony
  7. I never measure when I cook.
  8. I love am a total Trekkie. We have watched every single season of every single series and I have cried when each series ended. Pathetic, I know. But live long and prosper.
  9. I am horrible at returning phone calls, and I rarely answer my home phone.
  10. I often flip numbers upside down and read them. For example, on a digital clock, 11:38 would be BELL.
  11. When I was younger I wanted to be a detective.
  12. I came in second place in my fifth grade spelling bee because I spelled “nickel” n-i-c-k-l-e.
    I played the violin in fifth and sixth grade.
  13. I love Celtic music.
  14. In middle school my friend and I recorded ourselves singing and sent a tape to New Kids on the Block. How embarrassing!!
  15. My dad took me to see New Kids on the Block in 1989.
  16. I love food and I eat a lot. Well, I eat frequently, but in small portions. I swear I eat every 2 hours. Luckily, I’m blessed with a fast metabolism.
  17. I color coordinate our closet.
  18. I have to chew gum when I drive.
  19. I love to play Sudoku
  20. My step-dad helped me make a pair of shorts for my 9th grade home economics project and we got an F. I still have those shorts. I should take a picture.
  21. I was in the Little Miss Ohio pageant when I was in the third grade. I got the stomach flu the day before the pageant and was SO sick.
  22. I do not like ice in my drinks.
  23. I squirt my husband’s cologne on my pillows. Yes, I’m cheesy.
  24. My son and I play the game Trouble every day.
  25. The top 3 questions people ask me are: #1 Why are you homeschooling? (but they ask in a rude way.) #2 When are you going to have more kids? (and again, in a rude way.) #3 How do you manage to do everything you do?
  26. My middle name is really spelled Su, but I always write Sue.
  27. I am fascinated by ancient cultures.
  28. I am an appliance junkie.  My husband had to build me special shelves in our kitchen to hold all my junk.
  29. I *love* Dr. Laura. I think she is brilliant.
  30. President Teddy Roosevelt and I are seventh cousins, 5 times removed.
  31. I was enrolled to start classes for my Masters degree, in Statistics, but I changed my mind when it suddenly hit me that I wanted to have a child.
  32. Statistics? Yes, that’s what I said. I am a nut, I love math and numbers.
  33. I have never cried over a movie more than when I watched “Cinderella Man.”
  34. Mosquitoes love me.
  35. I was a math tutor in college.
  36. I am a speed reader. I can read really fast. I only wish I could type fast.
  37. I take notes from every book I read. I guess I could read really really fast if I wasn’t stopping to write things down all the time.
  38. I love midnight snacks.
  39. I put potatoes in my chili, which everyone thinks is weird.
  40. I hate Krispy Kreme donuts.
  41. I put onions in almost everything.
  42. I wear goggles when I chop onions.
  43. I could watch the Food Network 24/7.
  44. I wish I could eat bacon every day.
  45. My husband is always amazed by my intuition and ability to figure out plots and who is really the bad guy in movies.
  46. I used to love to play cupid.
  47. I still would but I don’t know anyone who is single!
  48. My favorite superhero is Batman.
  49. I think that Christian Bale has been the best Batman.
  50. My favorite movie actresses are Ashley Judd, Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon.
  51. My favorite movie actors are Mark Wahlberg, Vin Diesel, Andy Garcia and The Rock.
  52. Once a year, in autumn, we have a Lord of the Rings weekend marathon.
  53. I am obsessive about having the house alarm on during the day.
  54. I am descendant from a Mayflower pilgrim.
  55. I have lots of royalty in my family, but I believe that if everyone searched hard enough, they’d find royalty.
  56. My 3rd great grandmother was a Native American, probably Cherokee, but it can’t be documented. It is one of my life’s missions to somehow find proof.
  57. The most recent immigrant ancestor I have was a third great grandmother who came from Ireland in the 1860’s.
  58. All of my other ancestors were in America before the mid 1700’s.
  59. Most of them were here in the 1600’s. Yep, old school.
  60. When I was a teenager, my Mom and I had ESP or something. We would both get up at the same time in the middle of the night for a snack.
  61. We would usually eat chips and chip dip and drink Cherry Coke.
  62. I love Rachael Ray.
  63. I also love Martha Stewart, which is odd because those two are so different from each other.
  64. I have a Bachelors degree in Business with a minor in computers.
  65. I hate when people tell me I am wasting my education by staying home with my son.
  66. I am an iced tea addict and I like it really sugary.
  67. Some of my friends think I put way too much sugar in my tea.
  68. If I could have a shopping spree it would be at a bookstore or Amazon.com.
  69. I can’t wait to decorate my house for Christmas.
  70. We don’t even take the lights off the tree, we just move it down to the basement.
  71. I have a scar on my forehead from running into the corner of the wall when I was 3.
  72. General Robert E. Lee and I are fourth cousins, 7 times removed.
  73. I get migraines.
  74. Caffeine does not keep me awake.
  75. I stupidly scratched my right eye 8 years ago and it STILL has not healed.
  76. I can’t wait to start making Christmas cookies .
  77. I always have to have socks on.
  78. I can sort of read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
  79. I think I could learn to read other languages very easily, but I couldn’t speak them to save my own life. Whenever we get library books that have foreign words in them, I leave those for daddy to read.
  80. When I was little my brother told me he saw a leprechaun in our house. I spent a month looking for it.
  81. Also, one Christmas when he was about 12 and I was 9, he asked me to walk around the block with him looking at Christmas lights. Stupid me, I went. Turns out he wanted to see if he could steal a bulb. He told me to wait on the sidewalk and he went up to a house and started unscrewing a bulb. Someone inside heard him and opened the door. He took off around the side of the house and I was left standing there like a dummy on the sidewalk. The guy asked me what I doing and I said, “looking for my cat.” He told me I had better go home because it was probably getting close to my bedtime.
  82. I love conspiracy theories. I have read almost every JFK assassination book out there.
  83. I can also tell you all about the history of the Mafia. Don’t ask.
  84. I have learned to make all my mother-in-law’s best Korean dishes. It’s a gift of love for my husband.
  85. We have 10 clear pop-top canisters in the kitchen, on 2 shelves. We store flour, sugar, noodles, pretzels, and cereal in them. I literally get a thrill out of refilling them. I think sometimes I buy different kinds of cereal just to see it in the canisters.
  86. I love memes and surveys.
  87. I can peel an apple in one long strip.
  88. I can thread a needle on the very first try, always.
  89. I do not watch the news, I know nothing about current events unless my husband tells me.
  90. I strive to have a servant heart. It’s part of the desire to be like Jesus.
  91. You would never know how truly smart I am, because I’m such an airhead sometimes.
  92. We have peregrin falcons who like to hang out on our deck sometimes.
  93. My husband has never heard me sing.
  94. One of the most exciting things I have done is to walk on the land of my ancestors.
  95. I am really good at Family Feud.
  96. And Scene-It.
  97. I hate doing laundry, but I love to iron.
  98. I scare very easily and am very jumpy.
  99. I take the crust off my bread.
  100. I failed my driver’s test twice. I still can’t parallel park very well.

    and… let me say,, from a working professional all my life.. being a SAHM… it is truly a gift from God… so, if people say you are wasting your time… they are clueless… If I had my life to do over, I would have given up much.. to be able to do that.. my heart hurts that I couldn’t….

    I came in second place in my fifth grade spelling bee… ME TOO! I spelled “sententious” but the word was “sententia” I only recently got over it when I discovered that I had a hearing problem!! How did you get such an easy word anyway? :o )
